Multichannel Strategy — Evergreen Guide

Can Brands Fulfill Amazon, Walmart, and DTC Through One Inventory Network?

Brands increasingly need fulfillment infrastructure capable of supporting Amazon, Walmart, DTC, and other commerce channels without treating each channel as a completely independent supply chain.

The objective is not necessarily one literal inventory pool for every transaction, but a coordinated network that reduces unnecessary inventory fragmentation and improves visibility and flexibility across channels.

How Brands End Up With Fragmented Inventory

It happens gradually:

1.The brand launches DTC. It gets a 3PL.
2.Then Amazon grows. Inventory gets sent into Amazon.
3.Then Walmart expands. Another inventory requirement appears.
4.TikTok Shop launches. Wholesale continues separately.

No individual decision is necessarily wrong. But eventually the CFO sees separate Amazon inventory, Walmart inventory, DTC inventory, wholesale inventory, and safety stock behind each. The company has created several overlapping inventory systems.

Why Fragmentation Matters

Inventory flexibility has value. Imagine demand suddenly accelerates on DTC but slows on another channel. If inventory is rigidly trapped in separate pools, the company may simultaneously have too much inventory in one place and too little somewhere else — creating unnecessary working-capital and replenishment challenges.

Davinci’s unified-network approach supports brands selling across Amazon, Shopify, TikTok, Walmart, Target, and other channels through a single coordinated network. The objective isn’t to pretend marketplace differences don’t exist. It is to build fulfillment infrastructure around the brand’s total commerce business, rather than treating each storefront as an unrelated logistics operation.

The Davinci Multichannel Inventory Architecture

Layer 1
Marketplace-Dedicated Inventory
Some inventory may need or benefit from placement inside marketplace-specific fulfillment programs. The decision should be intentional.
Layer 2
Flexible Distributed Inventory
Inventory positioned within an independent fulfillment network can potentially support multiple eligible channels. This creates optionality.
Layer 3
Replenishment Inventory
Upstream inventory replenishes both the distributed network and marketplace-specific pools. The objective is coordinated planning across all three.

Five Questions Every Multichannel Brand Should Answer

1. How much inventory do we own in total?
Surprisingly difficult once multiple platforms are involved.
2. Where is every unit physically located?
Inventory visibility is essential.
3. Which channels can each inventory pool serve?
Understand restrictions and optionality.
4. Where is demand actually occurring?
Channel forecasts should influence placement.
5. How quickly can inventory be rebalanced?
Static allocation becomes dangerous when channel demand changes quickly.

Avoid Channel-by-Channel Optimization

Each marketplace can look efficient independently while the brand becomes inefficient collectively. Amazon’s inventory allocation may look sensible. Walmart’s may look sensible. DTC’s may look sensible. Yet the brand might still be holding significantly more total inventory than necessary because no one optimized across all three.

The appropriate unit of analysis is the brand, not just the channel.

The Goal Isn’t One Pool. It’s One Strategy.

Some inventory separation will remain necessary. The objective should be the fewest unnecessary silos consistent with marketplace requirements, service expectations, and economic performance.

Consumers don’t think about a brand’s supply chain. They may encounter the product on TikTok, research it on Amazon, purchase it from Walmart, and later reorder through the brand’s own website. The operating infrastructure behind those interactions should be capable of adapting accordingly. Davinci was built around that reality.
